This is a story about therapist Noah Cooper (Dax Shepard), who after losing his job, returns home to discover that his loud, pushy mother (Diane Keaton) has left her husband and plans to live indefinitely with Noah and his lovely wife (Liv Tyler) — who desperately wants him to sire a child. Now, the put-upon therapist has to cope with his outrageously overbearing mom and fend off his wife … all while trying to find gainful employment.

This movie was supposed to be a romantic comedy, so my husband decided to live stream it thinking it would be a good one for me since I usually like romantic comedies. However, I was not impressed with this movie at all. As far as I was concerned, there was very little comedy in it (I may have chuckled once) and almost no romance, at least not what I would call romance.

I felt the only character worth watching was the cousin, Mike White, who moved in and was preparing for a writing convention which never seemed to happen. If I were rating this movie, I would probably have to give it 1 ½ – 2 stars.

We went to the Cameo Theatre this past weekend to see Red, White and Tuna, the hilarious comedy set in Tuna, the third smallest town in Texas. The scene was set on the 4th of July Tuna High School Class Reunion with humor most of us here in Texas will recognize. Who of us hasn’t attended a High School reunion?

It was very interesting how two actors could play19 different characters, including men, women and children just by making costume changes. With each change, they totally became the character. I feel like I knew most of the characters personally.

Red, White and Tuna runs through September 5.
