I decided to try lunch at Aldo’s the other day as many business folks here say it is a great lunch spot. The décor was very nice and quaint and I imagine it is a great spot for a romantic dinner. Aldo’s is on a busy corner not too far from the medical center, but since it is set back off the street among old oaks, you never notice the traffic. Seating offers a great view of a greenbelt making you think you are in the country.
The food was very nice at Aldo’s as well. I started with the Pomodori di Caprese, fresh Buffalo Mozzarella, vine-ripe tomatoes, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. It was okay but the tomatoes were a little hard, not exactly vine-ripened in my opinion. I knew the tomatoes were out of season, but it sounded so good and it is spring here, so I was hoping….
They did serve a house salad with the meal which I was surprised to get as I didn’t see it mentioned on the menu. It was a nice salad with a very nice house dressing. The complimentary bread had a nice flavor, but just a little tuff.
For my entre I had the Rigatoni alla Siciliana which consisted of Rigatoni pasta with sweet fennel sausage, peppers, tomatoes and goat cheese. It was very good with a nice mild flavored fennel sausage which went well with the goat cheese.
Sorry everyone, I couldn’t do a dessert on this trip since I filled up on two salads. I did have a nice rich cup of coffee however which topped off my meal.
The lunch prices at Aldo’s were very reasonable and I had great friendly service from everyone. So I would say it is a good place to go for lunch, business or otherwise.
