Tre Trattoria
After the yummy goodness of The Lodge, I had to try another of the Chef Dady restaurants. I had been to Tre Trattoria once for dinner with my husband and best friend when it first opened. This time, I went back a few months later for a business lunch to see if it had changed. It was still fabulous.
It was raining, so we sat inside, under this giant chandelier made by a local artist that was full of colourful glass. The tables were set impeccably and the staff was prompt and courteous. In spring, sitting outside on the patio is also glorious.
We ordered a selection of appetizers to share. I love beets, but had never tried the golden one before, so we go those, some bruschetta and something from the salami selection. They also brought us bread with oil to dip it in.
Again, we were given time to relax and enjoy our meal and we weren’t rushed into finishing so we could move onto the next course.
After the apps, out came the main meals. I simply ordered the Caprese salad, since I didn’t think I could fit in a full meal after nibbling on all the appetizers. I was glad I did when I saw the other 2 meals. They were HUGE.
The Gnocci was soft and crispy on one side. The sauce was rich and had a homemade flavour. It tasted like something my Italian godparents would have made. Which says a lot, since they’re actually from Italy. The linguine was full of giant lumps of crab and fresh squash. The crab was great, but my cholesterol level is so already so high, I’m glad I didn’t order this buttery dish! I was told it tasted great though.
After lunch, we got some desserts. There was a pine nut tart and a peach pastry with a lavender honey drizzled on top.
We also ordered some espresso coffee and relaxed while we let the food go down.
So lunch was just as good as dinner. At lunch you can order smaller personal portions, while dinner is served family style. I am always pleasantly surprised by the bill at Chef Dady restaurants. For the food and the ambiance, you would expect to pay a lot more. His restaurants are no more expensive than some mid scale chain restaurant. Dady’s restaurants however blaze past any corporate chain with their fresh ingredients and quality service.
