Manny and his friends encounter new challenges after the meltdown.
………………..
In My Opinion By Debi Pfitzenmaier:
I really liked Ice Age 1. I really liked Ice Age 2. Ice Age 3 put us all to sleep. Okay, not my son. The few crass puns that he was able to pick up on were apparently enough to keep him awake.
I had such high hopes walking into the new release. After all, High School Musical managed to redeem itself on its third in the series. So did Shrek.
The show opens with Manny freaking out over thinking Ellie’s going into labor. He’s wrong…apparently for the umpteenth time.
The story turns to drama when Sid decides he wants a family of his own, steals some dinosaur eggs and tries to raise the little buggers once they hatch.
Momma dinosaur’s not far behind and goes on a rampage looking for her babies. She grabs them and Sid and heads to a tropical world under the ice.
Manny, Ellie, Diego and the rest of the herd follow on a rescue mission.
Most of the movie takes place in this lush wonder-underland as they search for Sid and try their best to avoid running into an ominous, shadow-y, prehistoric bully who’s never far behind. We don’t actually know the motivation for the monster, but I guess that doesn’t matter in the world of animation.
Oh, did I mention? Scrat gives up his acorn for true love. But once his vixen has him moving furniture around their abode, he apparently decides the less-demanding, ever-evasive acorn is a better choice. I liked it better when it was just him and food.
Don’t get me wrong. I think the actors did a great job. I just don’t think they had much to work with.
Just to confirm my suspicions and validate my snores, I did a quick tweet search. Lots of folks went to see it (it tied for #1 at the box office over the July 4th weekend). Then just a vast emptiness. Nothing about liking it. Nothing about hating it. Just nothing.
That pretty much sums it up.
