Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, Peter Sarsgaard and Alan Arkin head an all-star ensemble cast in “Rendition,” a compelling thriller from Academy Award-winning director Gavin Hood (“Tsotsi”). Witherspoon plays Isabella El-Ibrahimi, the American wife of Egyptian-born chemical engineer Anwar El-Ibrahimi (Omar Metwally) who disappears on a flight from South Africa to Washington. Isabella desperately tries to track her husband down, while a CIA analyst (Gyllenhaal) at a secret detention facility outside the U.S. is forced to question his assignment as he becomes party to the man’s unorthodox interrogation. “Rendition” is produced by Steve Golin (“Babel”) and Marcus Viscidi (“The Last Kiss”) from a screenplay by Kelly Sane.
In My Opinion By Jason Cronkhite:
My wife and I finally had the chance to watch Rendition. It’s a rivating and timely drama with a few storylines of love and struggle. From a young engineer who struggles through torture while his wife deals with the unknown in the last strecth of her pregnancy to a young eygitian couples love and distressed relationship with the daughters father, this story has man twists and turns that keep you engaged.
Then, there is also the geopolitical stress that we are dealing with today that makes the movie so timely. The movie was a good and one I certainly recommend it. My only issue was with the ending. I was left wanting more from the story but, maybe that was planned and something else is coming?
Let me know what you think.
